I took this picture while shooting in the outback of Queensland, Australia alongside National Geographic photographer Jason Edwards. This sign post points down the road towards the Cattle station, though it could be just over the hill, or 20 kilometers away. A couple minutes after taking this picture, I drove a little too fast over some boulders in the middle of the dirt road and blew out one of the front tires of the rental vehicle. We were 4 hours away from the nearest town, and hadn't spotted anyone during the last 4 hours of endless road, but that's no problem since we had a spare right? As we lowered the jack content with our speedy tire swap, our jaws dropped in unison with the half inflated spare tire. Needless to say it was a very slow drive into the next town! Lesson learned; always check the spare tire when using a car that's not yours in the middle of nowhere!
